Concerto pour Deux Clowns – Concerto para Dois Clowns

Cie Les Rois Vagabonds

(France/Uruguay)

FIRST SHOWING IN SÃO PAULO FIRST SHOWING IN SÃO PAULO

“Clowning is a lifelong art. To be a clown is something that is developed in a journey and perfected in each gesture, each show, while it is deconstructed by the same measure”, argue Julia Moa Caprez and Igor Sellem, the “vagabond kings” in the French-Argentinean duo Les Rois Vagabonds.

On stage they play two courtiers that, throughout the show, dismantle the stereotype of these palatial characters as well as the ritualistic and circumspect atmosphere of a large classical concerto. The artists perform pieces by Bach, Vivaldi and Strauss – Julia on the violin and Igor on tuba – as well as many acrobatic and juggling acts, in a satire of court life and of what would normally be expected from an erudite setting. Winner of the audience choice award at the Avignon Festival, the couple offers a reinterpretation of the classic clown, exploring all possibilities with humor and poetry and proving there are no aesthetic limits to reinvent it.
