Mar sem Beira

Cia Nós no Bambu

(Brasília – DF)

FIRST SHOWING IN SÃO PAULO FIRST SHOWING IN SÃO PAULO

Turning bamboo into mast, tripod for acrobatics, trapeze and even a balance board, artists Poema Mühlenberg and Jackson Prado, from Brasília- based company Nós do Bambu, defy gravity to showcase a poetic sea (and world) without boundaries or pre-conceived notions. “It is the synthesis of all understanding, regained through the wisdom of bamboo, with its hollow core and outer flexibility”, says the group.

In Mar sem Beira, the performers blend a number of circus skills with capoeira, incorporating cultures and artistic expressions to expand their horizons. Directed by Fernando Villar, the show is presented in three scenes that deal with the idea of expanded territories and breaking geographic barriers. “Each encounter is an opportunity to discover and get to know more through the contact with others.

Each affinity, conflict, challenge and exchange of knowledge is a way to find out who we are. In Mar sem Beira, I bring the art I have found in myself as a bamboo artist, which is almost nothing when compared to our endless selves”, says Mühlenberg.
