Balbúrdia

Cia Artinerant´s

(São Paulo – SP)

National premiere National premiere

In Portuguese, Balbúrdia means confusion, pastiche, mayhem. With a self-explanatory title, Artinerant’s Balbúrdia tells the story of a couple living in today’s chaotic, noisy and ever-changing world, with limited space and silence.
The protagonists of Balbúrdia deconstruct what is expected of a circus spectacle subverting any kind of order on the stage.

A married couple in real life, Daniel Pedro and Maíra Campos are the stars and founders of the Artinerant’s troupe. They bring to the show personal and professional experiences performing in Brazil and abroad, while mixing traditional and present-day circus skills.

“The performance is not just an expression of our artistic quest today – it is also a portrait of a couple’s history and attempts to relate to each other in a game whose objective is to stay together, facing challenges, surprises and confusions along the way”, they say.

The narrative, directed by Lu Lopes, showcases the performer’s trajectories, highlighting differences, similarities and what brings them together, and flirts with fantastical surrealism in short and cyclical sketches.

Balbúrdia is the second show (Vizinhos is the first) of trilogy that Artinerant´s cia is building with the director Lu Lopes.
