Telhado de Ninguém

NATIONAL PREMIERE NATIONAL PREMIERE

Displaced after a brutal storm, two people from different cultures are stuck on the roof of a submerged house and need to adapt to their new shared life. The first work geared at children from Companhia do Polvo, Telhado de Ninguém is inspired by silent movies and discusses humans’ ability to communicate, respect and understand each other, in spite of cultural differences. Is language such an insurmountable barrier after all?

The absence of dialogues and the characters’ inability to communicate verbally facilitates scenic games supported by music and body language, creating a new type of communication through art. “We should start respecting and celebrating what makes us different. Only through collaboration we can go on with this experiment called humanity”, say performers and creators Mark Bronilow and Natália Presser. Along with the roof, the set includes an antenna, a chimney and a lamp post that become circus equipment in dance, acrobatics and balancing acts.
